Flexible Opening
The electric sliding system and multi-track structure allow multiple sides to move independently, enabling quick transitions between open, semi-open, and fully enclosed configurations.
Shading and Heat Insulation
High-performance insulated glazing and shading systems reduce direct sunlight, ultraviolet exposure, and solar heat gain, creating a more comfortable environment under Muscat’s intense sunshine.
Sand and Dust Protection
Highly sealed tracks, dust-resistant details, and carefully engineered connections reduce sand and dust infiltration, helping protect furniture and interior surfaces while lowering maintenance requirements.
Waterproof Sealing
Multiple sealing layers and optimized drainage details reduce water penetration, helping the sunroom remain dry, stable, and comfortable during rainfall and wind-driven weather.

Located in a premium villa district of Muscat, the project was designed to make better use of the existing courtyard by creating a leisure area that could adapt to changing weather and daily activities. The space needed to preserve open garden views and natural ventilation while providing reliable protection from heat, intense sunlight, dusty winds, and rainfall. DTP customized an electrically operated movable sunroom according to the courtyard dimensions, architectural style, and functional requirements of the villa. Its multi-track sliding structure allows several sides to open flexibly, enabling the homeowner to switch between an open courtyard, a semi-open leisure area, and a fully enclosed room.
Selected Challenges & Solutions
Intense Sunlight and High Temperatures
Muscat experiences intense summer sunlight and high outdoor temperatures. Although expansive glazing provides panoramic views, it may also introduce excessive solar heat and glare into the sunroom.

Low-E Insulated Glass and External Shading System
Low-E insulated glazing was combined with an external shading system. Together, they reduce solar radiation, ultraviolet exposure, and heat transfer while preserving daylight, transparency, and indoor comfort.
Seasonal Sandstorms and Dust Infiltration
Seasonal dusty winds and sand can affect outdoor spaces in Muscat. Because the movable sunroom includes multiple sliding panels and tracks, insufficient sealing could allow dust to enter the interior and interfere with operation.

Highly Sealed Tracks and Dust-Resistant Details
Highly sealed tracks, dust-resistant connection details, and multiple sealing layers reduce sand and dust entering through moving sections and frame joints. The track design also supports easier cleaning and dependable long-term operation.
Waterproofing and Long-Term Stability of the Movable System
The movable sunroom includes multiple tracks, sliding panels, and active connection points. It needed to remain easy to operate while preventing water penetration and maintaining alignment over long-term use.

Precision Track Alignment with Multiple Drainage and Sealing Details
Track positions, panel gaps, and frame connections were carefully engineered with multiple sealing layers and optimized drainage paths. Dimensional verification and system commissioning ensure smooth panel movement, reliable water protection, and long-term stability.
