This project involved upgrading the window, door, and entrance systems of a high-end residence. The client wanted to preserve the home’s original architectural character while introducing more natural light and visual openness. Improved indoor temperature stability, acoustic comfort, and weather sealing were also important requirements. Large high-performance windows and doors, thermally broken aluminum profiles, double insulated glazing, and a customized black decorative entry door were incorporated into the design. The glass area, frame proportions, opening configurations, and façade divisions were carefully optimized to bring more daylight indoors and strengthen the visual connection between the interior and exterior.

Improving Natural Daylight and Spatial Openness
The client wanted to reduce the visual obstruction created by conventional window frames and make the interior brighter and more transparent. However, larger glass areas could also increase solar heat transfer and affect indoor temperature and energy use.

Large High-Performance Glazed Window and Door Systems
Large double insulated glass panels and clean aluminum framing were used to expand the daylight area while minimizing visual obstruction. The high-performance glazing controls heat transfer, preserving open views and abundant natural light without compromising indoor comfort.
Improving Energy Performance and Year-Round Comfort
New York experiences cold winters and warm summers. Conventional aluminum window and door systems can allow considerable heat transfer, increasing heating and cooling demand.
