The hotel is located in a busy downtown area where guest rooms are exposed to traffic, public transportation, and surrounding commercial activity. Toronto’s cold winters also create requirements for thermal insulation, air tightness, and condensation control. Different acoustic glazing combinations were selected according to façade noise exposure, supported by thermally broken frames and multiple sealing systems. Durable commercial entrance doors were installed in the lobby to support frequent daily use. The upgraded systems reduce guest-room noise, stabilize indoor temperatures, and create a more professional and modern business-hotel entrance.

Selected Challenges & Solutions

Downtown Traffic Noise Control

Reducing road and public-transport noise while preserving daylight.

Asymmetrical Acoustic Glazing

Using varied glass thicknesses and air spaces to improve noise reduction.

Heat Loss During Cold Weather

Winter temperature differences increased heat transfer and air-leakage risks.

Thermal-Break Frames and Airtight Sealing

Reducing frame conductivity and stabilizing interior temperatures.

High-Frequency Hotel Entrance Use

Lobby doors needed to balance circulation, safety, and durability.

Commercial-Grade Entrance Doors and Durable Hardware

Improving operating stability and reducing daily maintenance.
